How to use discounts to fill your calendar – without underselling your best nights

Seven discounts, explained one at a time: what each one does, and why it's worth turning on.
Every host has nights that don't book at full price: a random Tuesday in the off-season, the last few days before a longer stay that's already confirmed, a brand-new listing with no reviews yet. Holidu gives you seven different discounts, each built for a different one of those situations. You choose which ones to turn on and set your own percentage – Holidu shows the discount to guests correctly, wherever you're listed.
Below, each one gets a short introduction and then the specifics, so you can read just the one you're curious about.

Early Bird Discount

Some guests plan their whole trip a year in advance. The Early Bird Discount rewards that kind of planning with a lower rate for guests who lock in their stay well before check-in.
  • Applies to bookings made roughly 5 or more months ahead of check-in.
  • Most hosts set 10–15%, though anything from 5% to 50% is possible.
  • Only active inside the window you choose – your regular seasonal pricing elsewhere stays untouched.
  • Turn it off any time, just as easily as you turned it on.

Last-Minute Discount

A night that's still empty a couple of weeks before check-in isn't making you anything. The Last-Minute Discount offers a short-term price break to give those nights a real chance of getting booked – and it brings in a different kind of guest, too.
  • You set both the percentage and how many days before check-in it kicks in.
  • Holidu suggests a starting point based on what's worked for similar properties nearby, but the final call is yours.
  • Reaches spontaneous travellers and last-minute business trips you wouldn't otherwise see.
  • Only applies to nights that would've earned nothing anyway, so it creates revenue rather than cutting into it.

Weekly Discount

A week-long stay means one check-in, one check-out, and six nights you don't have to think about again. The Weekly Discount rewards guests who book seven nights or more with a lower nightly rate.
  • Applies once a booking reaches 7 nights or longer.
  • Set any percentage from 5% upward – Holidu recommends starting around 10%.
  • Shorter stays simply keep your normal price.

Mobile Discount

More guests than ever are browsing – and booking – straight from their phone. The Mobile Discount gives a small price break to guests who complete their booking on mobile, turning a browser tab into a confirmed stay.
  • Applies only to mobile bookings made on Holidu or Booking.com.
  • Holidu suggests starting around 10%, based on what typically works in your market.
  • A precise, targeted discount – not a blanket price cut.

Direct Booking Website Discount

A direct booking already costs you less than one through a channel – around 6%, versus the roughly 15% channels typically charge. This discount gives guests one more reason to choose that route.
  • Offer 5%, 10%, or 15% off, only for bookings through your own website or widget.
  • Switched off by default – nothing changes until you turn it on.
  • Exclusive to your own site: guests on Airbnb, Booking.com, or Vrbo never see it.
You choose which ones to turn on, and what each one is worth.

Loyalty Discount

The guests who already know and like your place are often the easiest bookings you'll get. The Loyalty Discount rewards exactly those guests – Holidu members or Booking.com Genius members – for coming back.
  • Choose 10%, 15%, or 20% off.
  • Needs a bit of a track record first: at least 3 reviews on both Holidu and Booking.com, averaging 7.5 or higher.
  • Runs continuously rather than switching off by season.
  • Tends to help most in the quieter shoulder and low-season months.

New Listing Discount

A brand-new listing has no reviews yet, which makes that very first booking the hardest one to get. The New Listing Discount solves exactly that by discounting a new property's earliest bookings automatically.
  • 20% off, for up to 2 bookings on each channel you're listed on.
  • Holidu sets a sensible level automatically – a higher level is available too, if you're listed on several channels.
  • Runs for up to 6 months, or until those early bookings are used up, whichever comes first.
  • Once it ends, your other discounts take over on their own – nothing for you to do.

How they all work together

You can turn on more than one of these at the same time – Early Bird and Weekly together, say, for a guest booking a week-long stay months in advance.
Combining discounts
  • Active discounts multiply rather than simply adding up, so your price can't accidentally drop further than makes sense.
  • New Listing is the one exception — while it's active, it's the only discount that applies.
  • Early Bird, Weekly and Mobile can also skip your highest-demand nights automatically (Peak Night Discount Exclusion), based on demand data for your market.
Underneath all of it, the choice stays yours: you decide which discounts to turn on, and you set every percentage. Holidu's job is just to display them correctly, do the math, and suggest sensible starting points.
