What is the CIN?

The CIN (Codice Identificativo Nazionale) is a unique national identification code assigned to all short-term rental properties in Italy. This code helps authorities track and regulate the rental market while ensuring transparency for guests and property owners alike.

Timeline and Deadlines

The regulation went into effect on November 2, 2024. All rental properties should have obtained their CIN by January 1, 2025. If you haven't already secured your code, apply as soon as possible to remain compliant.

How to Obtain Your CIN

To get your CIN, you'll need to apply through the Ministry of Tourism's official online platform, Banca Dati Strutture Ricettive (BDSR). Once your application is processed and approved, you'll receive your unique identification code.

What You Must Do With Your CIN

After obtaining your CIN, you have two important obligations:

• Display the CIN outside your property in a clearly visible location
• Include the CIN in all your rental listings across all platforms, including your Holidu listing

Safety Requirements

Along with obtaining your CIN, Italian law requires all tourist rentals to meet specific safety standards:

• Combustible gas detectors must be installed
• Carbon monoxide detectors must be installed
• Fire extinguishers must be present and accessible
• Professional rentals managed as a business must comply with additional safety installation requirements
