What are the Host Responsibilities?
As a host, you play a key role in giving your guests a great stay. Here is how you can make the most of hosting with Holidu.
Booking Guidelines
Your Role and Responsibilities
You are not just hosting a property; you are providing an experience. The booking contract is between the host and the guest, with Holidu as an intermediary. You, or a designated person, should be reachable during your guests' stay – either directly or through someone in charge.
Smooth Arrival Communication
For a more personal experience, get in touch with your guests early about arrival expectations. This includes confirming the estimated arrival time, explaining how to collect keys, and outlining house rules. Clear communication before arrival sets the tone for a positive guest experience.
Be There for Your Guests
Be ready to help during your guests' stay. If issues come up at the property, please respond quickly so their stay stays stress-free. Your availability and responsiveness are key to earning positive reviews and maintaining a strong reputation as a host.
Avoid Host Cancellations
Cancellations disrupt plans for both hosts and guests. They can also impact your property's performance and lead to penalties. Aim to avoid cancellations whenever possible to maintain your standing on the platform.
Providing Receipts and Invoices
If a guest requests a receipt or invoice, you are responsible for providing one that shows the total amount paid. You can use Holidu's invoice tool to issue this document easily. How to issue an invoice for a guest.
Please note: Holidu provides guests with a booking confirmation. Your invoice (provided by Holidu) is an individual fiscal document and should NOT be shared with guests as an official receipt without your explicit authorization.
Account Configuration Guidelines
Your Control and Responsibility
Final responsibility for the accuracy of your configuration belongs to you, the host. Our local teams are happy to guide and assist you, but please bear in mind that Holidu is not responsible for keeping your property's information and settings up to date. As the property owner, you have direct control and oversight of all your listing details.
Updating Account Settings
Everything that is configurable in your account can be updated by you, easily and quickly. Take advantage of this control to ensure your listing remains accurate and reflects your current offerings at all times.
Calendar Management
To prevent double bookings, keep your calendar accurate and up to date. As the host, you set your availability. If your property becomes unavailable – for example, due to renovations, maintenance, or private bookings – please block those dates right away. A current calendar makes for a smooth experience for you and your guests.
Modifying Property Details
If you change amenities, sleeping arrangements, or other configurable settings, please update the description text promptly. This ensures potential guests have accurate information when deciding to book your property. How to generate your property description.
Please note: whenever critical information changes (for example, if a pool or Wi-Fi is no longer available, or bedroom configuration is altered), it is your responsibility to inform future guests with affected bookings. Holidu only steps in for very urgent cases, such as when the check-in date is extremely close.
Keeping Rates Updated
Update your nightly rate, minimum stay, and extra fees in good time for upcoming seasons. Guests like to plan their holidays in advance, and competitive, transparent pricing helps attract bookings. Remember: Once a booking is confirmed, the booking price can no longer be changed.
Summary
Your responsibilities as a host extend across three main areas: delivering excellent service during bookings, maintaining accurate account information, and ensuring transparent communication with your guests. By taking these responsibilities seriously, you build trust, earn positive reviews, and create a successful hosting business on Holidu.
