What Happens If a Guest Cancels Their Booking?

When a guest cancels their booking, your payout depends on the cancellation policy attached to that specific booking. Holidu handles all refund processes automatically, so you won't need to issue any refunds to the guest yourself.

How Are Cancellations Handled?

1. The Guest Cancels Through the Booking Channel

Guests must cancel their booking directly through the platform where they made the reservation—whether that's Holidu, Airbnb, Booking.com, Vrbo, or another channel. The system automatically applies the cancellation policy tied to that booking.

2. The Cancellation Policy Determines Your Payout

Each booking has a cancellation policy that defines what the guest receives as a refund. Your payout as the host is calculated based on this same policy and when the cancellation occurs. The guest may receive a full refund, partial refund, or no refund depending on the policy's terms.

3. You'll Be Notified Immediately

Once a guest cancels, you'll receive an email notification with the cancellation details. Log into your Holidu host account to review the specifics and check any payout updates in your Bookings section.

Where to Find the Cancellation Policy

To view the cancellation policy for any booking:

  1. Log into your Holidu host account
  2. Go to the Bookings section
  3. Select the booking you want to review
  4. Scroll down to view the Cancellation Policy details

Key Points to Remember

  • Your Calendar Updates Automatically – Once a cancellation is confirmed, those dates immediately become available for new bookings
  • You Don't Process Refunds – Holidu handles all refund transactions according to the policy
  • Your Payout Depends on the Policy – Review the specific cancellation policy for each booking to understand your financial outcome
